Your journey begins in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s famed safari circuit. Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru, is the ideal gateway to your East African adventure before you venture into the wild.

Day 2: Fly to the legendary Serengeti National Park by scenic domestic flight or drive through the stunning Ngorongoro Highlands, whichever you prefer. By flying you maximise your time with the wildlife, by driving you get spectacular scenery and experience the changing landscapes of Tanzania.

Spend the next three days exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s great wildlife destinations. It is also home to millions of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles and more than 500 bird species. Every game drive presents new chances to see nature at its best – a pride of lions resting under an acacia tree, elephants moving across the plains or cheetahs on the hunt for prey.

Depending on the season your family may also get to witness part of the incredible Great Wildebeest Migration which is considered one of the greatest natural spectacles on earth. The Serengeti ecosystem is home to millions of wildebeest and zebras that move in search of new grazing and unforgettable wildlife encounters that will appeal to visitors of all ages.

Travel from the Serengeti through the dramatic Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, the famous Ngorongoro Crater. One of the best places to see black rhinos as well as lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and countless other species, all in one game drive, this marvel of nature has one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa.

Extend your adventure with one of the most rewarding cultural experiences in Tanzania, visiting the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes near Lake Eyasi. Stay with the Hadzabe, one of Africa’s last remaining hunter-gatherer communities, and discover their traditional hunting techniques, language, medicinal plants and unique way of life, unchanged for thousands of years. Then visit the Datoga people, renowned for their superb blacksmithing skills, traditional jewellery making and rich cultural heritage. This day offers an educational and meaningful experience for the whole family while supporting responsible cultural tourism.

Then your safari continues to Tarangire National Park often known as the ‘Kingdom of Elephants’. Famous for its large herds of elephants giant ancient baobab trees and the life giving tarangire river this beautiful park offers great wildlife viewing throughout the year. Exciting game drives will take families to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, warthogs, ostriches, leopards and an incredible variety of birdlife.
