7 Day Tanzania Private Safari

7 Day Tanzania Private Safari

Overview

This specially designed 7-day Tanzania private safari takes you on an unforgettable adventure across Tanzania’s most famous wildlife areas. This is the perfect blend of adventure, luxury and authentic African wilderness with all of the stunning locations of Tarangire National Park, the famous Ngorongoro Crater and the endless plains of Serengeti National Park. Whether it’s your first trip to Tanzania or you’re a seasoned safari traveller, this itinerary promises outstanding wildlife sightings, breathtaking landscapes and tailored service throughout.

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania, before venturing into the wilds to explore some of the most iconic national parks of East Africa. Every stop on this itinerary has been hand-picked to showcase the incredible diversity of ecosystems found in Northern Tanzania, giving you a taste of everything from ancient baobab forests and volcanic landscapes to endless savannahs and one of the greatest wildlife migrations in the world.

Our first safari destination is Tarangire National Park, known for its huge elephant population and towering baobab trees that dominate the landscape. The Tarangire River is a permanent water source in the park, and during the dry season thousands of animals from the surrounding areas come to the river. You can see large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, impala, warthogs and many other species of antelope. Tarangire is also one of the best birdwatching parks in Tanzania, with over 550 bird species recorded. It is a birdwatcher’s paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Then, it’s on to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, created when a giant volcano collawell over than two million years ago. Its unique ecosystem hosts an amazing concentration of wildlife all year round, including the famous Big Five. Visitors have a wonderful chance to see the black rhinoceros, one of the world’s most endangered species, along with lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, flamingos and many other interesting species in a stunning setting.

The highlight of your safari is three unforgettable days in the legendary Serengeti National Park, one of the world’s most famous wildlife destinations. Covering almost 15,000 square kilometres, the Serengeti is famous for its endless golden plains, rocky kopjes, acacia woodlands and incredible diversity of wildlife. It is home to the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration, where over two million wildebeests with zebras and gazelles move across the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the season, you might see dramatic river crossings, the calving season or vast herds stretching as far as the eye can see.

Serengeti National Park is a phenomenal wildlife destination year-round, even outside the migration. Large prides of lions patrol the plains, riverine forests shelter resting leopards, and open grasslands are the hunting ground of cheetahs. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, jackals, hippos, crocodiles and countless species of antelope all flourish in this remarkable ecosystem. A three-night stay in the park lets you explore different regions and take advantage of morning and afternoon game drives when wildlife activity is at its highest.

A private safari gives you the most flexibility and comfort. During your safari you will be travelling in a specially equipped 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a professional English-speaking driver-guide dedicated exclusively to your safari. This personalised experience gives you more time at wildlife sightings, the flexibility to tailor your daily schedule to your interests, and informative insights into Tanzania’s wildlife, landscapes, conservation and culture.

At the end of your adventure, you can fly back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) on a scenic domestic flight from the Serengeti or drive through the breathtaking Ngorongoro Highlands and Arusha. Either way, the views are unforgettable and a perfect end to a spectacular safari. This is a 7-day Tanzania private safari ideal for couples, families, photographers, honeymooners and wildlife lovers who want an authentic African experience and to fill it with spectacular landscapes, world-class wildlife encounters and memories that will last a lifetime.

FAQs

A private safari is a tailor-made wildlife experience where you travel exclusively with your family, friends or travel companions in a dedicated 4x4 safari vehicle with your own professional guide. Unlike group safaris you are in complete control, meaning you can linger as long as you want at wildlife sightings and move at your own pace.

Any time of the year is safari time in Tanzania. The dry season (June to October) is a great time for wildlife viewing and coincides with the Great Migration river crossings in Northern Serengeti. Southern Serengeti (Ndutu) hosts the spectacular Wildebeest calving season from January to March which visitors can witness. The green season is from November to May, with lush landscapes, fewer crowds and fantastic birdwatching.

Most private safaris explore Tanzania's famous Northern Circuit, including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha National Park, and cultural experiences around Mto wa Mbu, Lake Natron, or Materuni Waterfalls depending on your itinerary.

A 5-8 day safari is perfect for visiting Tanzania’s most famous parks. For visitors to Zanzibar or those interested in cultural activities, we suggest a 10 to 14 day itinerary for a more relaxed and comprehensive East African experience.

Tanzania is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, jackals, hundreds of bird species, and many other fascinating animals depending on the season and location.

Yeah. Private safari packages normally include all park entrance fees, Ngorongoro Crater service fees, concession fees (if any), government taxes and conservation charges. Your quote will clearly lay out everything that is included.

Tanzania offers accommodation for every budget, including comfortable mid-range lodges, luxury safari lodges, exclusive tented camps, and ultra-luxury properties. Your accommodation can be customized according to your travel style and budget.

Sure. Private safaris are ideal for families as the itinerary can be adapted to suit the children’s interests, pace of travel and preferred activities. Many lodges also offer family rooms and child-friendly services.

We suggest lightweight, neutral-colored clothing, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent, and a light jacket for cool mornings. Bring a camera, binoculars, personal medications, and a small daypack. Soft-sided luggage is recommended, particularly if you will be travelling domestically by air.

Yes. Combining a Tanzania safari with Zanzibar is one of our most popular holiday packages. After exciting wildlife adventures, you can relax on Zanzibar's white-sand beaches, explore Stone Town, enjoy snorkeling, diving, spice tours, or simply unwind by the Indian Ocean.

Most international visitors need a tourist visa, which you can get either online or when you arrive, depending on what country you come from. Vaccination for Yellow Fever is only required if you are arriving from or transiting through a country with Yellow Fever transmission. We also recommend that you discuss malaria prevention with your health care provider before travelling.

At Tanzaniatrail Experience we specialise in creating private safaris that are tailor-made to suit your interests, travel style and budget.
