Perfect for families with children of all ages, this private safari combines exciting game drives, spectacular scenery, comfortable family-friendly accommodations and authentic African experiences. From the giant herds of elephants in Tarangire National Park to the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the lush forests of Lake Manyara National Park every day is filled with incredible wildlife encounters and unforgettable moments together.
Your safari begins in Arusha and then you head to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s best wildlife sanctuaries, a paradise for elephant lovers. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobabs, the great plains, the seasonal swamps and the life-giving Tarangire River which attracts thousands of animals throughout the year. On your game drive you and your family may see large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, ostriches and over 550 bird species recorded. The peacefulness of Tarangire and diversity of animals make it an excellent introduction to the amazing safari experience of Tanzania.
The adventure continues as you journey to the legendary Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your family will drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands, rewarded with breathtaking landscapes before descending onto the endless golden plains of the Serengeti. The Serengeti National Park, covering almost 15,000 square kilometres, has an amazing concentration of wildlife, including the famous Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhinoceros. Open grasslands and rocky kopjes, riverine forests, and many other ecosystems in the park are ideal habitat for countless animal species.
Your family will have two full days to explore the Serengeti, allowing you to experience all this incredible national park has to offer. With your professional safari guide you’ll explore different parts of the park looking for predators, grazing herbivores and spectacular birdlife. Depending on the season, you will have the chance to experience the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, when millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles move across the Serengeti ecosystem in search of fresh grazing. Serengeti also provides incredible wildlife viewing year-round, so you can enjoy some of the best lion sightings of your life, lounging under acacia trees, cheetahs hunting across the plains, elephants roaming free, and hippos wallowing in rivers, even when it’s not migration season.
After the unforgettable Serengeti experience, your safari adventure continues through the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is internationally recognised for its spectacular biodiversity, volcanic scenery and the peaceful coexistence between wildlife and the Maasai people. As you drive through the crater highlands, stop to view the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, the earth’s largest intact volcanic caldera, from panoramic viewpoints. Driving through the scenic countryside is an experience in itself with spectacular views of forests, rolling hills and fertile farmlands before arriving in the beautiful town of Karatu for a relaxing overnight stay.
Your last safari day will be spent exploring beautiful Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most diverse and scenic national parks. Nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara offers an incredible variety of habitats, including groundwater forests, open grasslands, acacia woodlands, hot springs, and the alkaline lake itself. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of playful baboons, elegant giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras and thousands of pink flamingos that gather on the shore of the lake at certain times of the year. The dense forest is a completely different safari experience to the open plains of the Serengeti and makes the perfect finale to your family adventure.
During your safari your family will be driven around in a comfortable private 4×4 safari vehicle with guaranteed window seats, a pop-up roof for excellent wildlife viewing and photography, charging ports, a refrigerator with bottled drinking water and plenty of luggage space. The experienced professional safari guide will tailor each game drive to your family’s interests and pace to ensure a relaxed, educational and enjoyable experience for both adults and children.
Hand-selected family friendly lodges and tented camps offer comfort, warm hospitality, delicious food and lovely surroundings for your family to relax after each exciting day. Evenings are for gathering around the lodge and relaxing, sharing your day’s wildlife adventures and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the African wilderness.
This 6 Day Tanzania Family Safari is the perfect mix of adventure, education, comfort and memorable wildlife experiences.
