Your journey begins in Tarangire National Park, known for its ancient baobabs, huge herds of elephants and the Tarangire River, which attracts a wealth of wildlife year-round. Enjoy an exciting game drive through diverse landscapes in search of lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, impalas, ostriches and over 550 recorded bird species.
Following an overnight stay in the tranquil town of Karatu, travel to the incredible Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the greatest natural wonders of Africa. Enter the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, where an incredible concentration of wildlife, including the legendary Big Five, flourishes within this remarkable ecosystem. Every game drive takes place in stunning scenery and provides unforgettable wildlife encounters and excellent photographic opportunities.
Enjoy your safari in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle with a professional guide who shares fascinating insights into Tanzania’s wildlife, landscapes and conservation. This 2-day safari is a great introduction to the beauty and diversity of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit before you are transferred to the airport.
Safari Itinerary
After breakfast you will meet your professional safari guide in Arusha and set off for Tarangire National Park, one of the most beautiful wildlife parks in Tanzania. On arrival you will have a full day game drive through landscapes of giant baobab trees, rolling savannahs, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River. The park is famous for its massive elephant populations, but there are also lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, impalas, waterbucks, ostriches and a stunning variety of birdlife. Following a delicious picnic lunch in the midst of nature, you’ll continue your afternoon safari in search of more wildlife. At the end of the day you will leave the park and drive to Karatu where you will check into your lodge and have dinner and relax ready for tomorrow's adventure.

After an early breakfast, depart Karatu and drive to the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will descend over 2,000 feet into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa with good chances of seeing the Big Five on a game drive. Look for lions, elephants, endangered black rhinos, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles and colourful flamingos around the lakes of the crater. Have a scenic picnic lunch on the crater floor and enjoy the spectacular surroundings before your final game drive. In the afternoon, climb up the crater and start your easy transfer to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onwards flight, concluding your unforgettable Tanzanian safari on a memorable note.

Any time of the year is safari time in Tanzania. The dry season from June to October is perfect for wildlife viewing, and the wildebeest calving in Ndutu is best from January to March. The Great Migration is a different place at a different time of year.

Yeah. Tanzania is one of the safest safari destinations in Africa. You will be travelling with a licenced tour operator (Tanzaniatrail Experience Limited) and your guide will ensure your safety on the trip and will adhere to all the National Park rules.
We recommend lightweight neutral-coloured clothing, a light jacket for early mornings, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera, and any personal medications. Soft-sided luggage is preferred for safari vehicles and domestic flights.
Safaris can be 2 to 14 days or longer. Most travellers opt for between 5 and 8 days to comfortably cover several national parks, but longer safaris offer more time to track the Great Migration or combine wildlife with cultural experiences and Zanzibar.
Sure. Many of our clients opt to end their safari with a relaxing beach holiday in Zanzibar. Domestic flights run daily and it is easy to combine the incredible wildlife of Tanzania with the white sand beaches and turquoise waters of Zanzibar.
Most international visitors require a Tanzanian tourist visa, usually available either online or on arrival, depending on nationality. We also recommend that you discuss recommended vaccinations and malaria prevention with your healthcare provider prior to travel.
