2 Day Tanzania Private Safari
Overview
This carefully designed 2-day Tanzania private safari allows you to see the very best of Northern Tanzania in just two incredible days, combining the amazing wildlife-filled plains of Ndutu with the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. This itinerary is perfect for travellers with limited time and gives you a gfantasticopportunity to experience Tanzania’s beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and excellent safari experiences without compromising on comfort or quality.
You will be transferred by domestic flight or private safari 4×4 to the beautiful Ndutu area within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, bordering the southern Serengeti ecosystem, where your adventure begins. Ndutu is one of Tanzania’s best wildlife destinations at any time of year but really comes into its own between December and March when the Great Migration arrives for calving season. And this is the incredible time when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest (plus zebras and gazelles) come together on the endless plains to have their babies. This abundance of prey attracts some of the highest concentrations of predators in Africa, offering excellent opportunities to witness dramatic wildlife interactions between lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas and jackals.
Outside the migration season, Ndutu offers good game viewing thanks to its permanent population of wildlife and its mix of open grasslands, acacia woodlands, seasonal lakes and rocky outcrops. Every game drive is unique and rewarding; visitors often see large herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes, ostriches and an impressive variety of birdlife. The open scenery also makes Ndutu one of the best places for wildlife photography in Tanzania with excellent visibility and unforgettable sunrise and sunset scenes.
On day two you will visit the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the greatest natural wonders in Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was created millions of years ago when a huge volcano collapsed, and the crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera on the planet and contains one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife anywhere in Africa. Over 600 metres down to the floor of the volcano, a stunning ecosystem opens up; animals live in a contained natural sanctuary all year round. It is one of the few places in Africa where visitors have a remarkable chance of seeing the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and the endangered black rhinoceros – in a single game drive.
The Ngorongoro Crater is renowned not only for its incredible wildlife but also for its breathtaking scenery, which includes lush forests, open grasslands, freshwater springs, swamps, soda lakes, acacia woodlands and towering crater walls. All corners have spectacular views and endless photographic opportunities and offer an unforgettable safari experience in one of Africa’s most iconic conservation areas.
During your journey, you will be travelling in a comfortable private 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser, specially designed for safari adventures. You will be accompanied by a professional and experienced driver-guide who will offer you a personalised service, flexible game drives and an insight into the wildlife, ecosystems, history and culture of Tanzania. This private experience lets you explore at your own pace, spend more time watching wildlife and tailor the day’s activities to your interests, unlike a scheduled group safari.
This safari has been carefully crafted to maximise your wildlife viewing while ensuring a comfortable and seamless travel experience, whether you choose the convenience of a scenic domestic flight or the adventure of travelling by road. This is an ideal itinerary for couples, families, photographers, honeymooners or anyone wanting to experience a real African safari in a short time.
This 2-day Tanzania private safari is an unforgettable insight into the amazing natural heritage of Tanzania, from the predator-rich plains of Ndutu to the unique wildlife sanctuary of Ngorongoro Crater. Every minute is crafted to create memories that will last a lifetime. An incredible combination of adventure, dramatic scenery and world-class wildlife encounters that will inspire you long after your trip is over.

FAQs
A private safari is a tailor-made wildlife experience where you travel exclusively with your family, friends or travel companions in a dedicated 4x4 safari vehicle with your own professional guide. Unlike group safaris you are in complete control, meaning you can linger as long as you want at wildlife sightings and move at your own pace.
Any time of the year is safari time in Tanzania. The dry season (June to October) is a great time for wildlife viewing and coincides with the Great Migration river crossings in Northern Serengeti. Southern Serengeti (Ndutu) hosts the spectacular Wildebeest calving season from January to March which visitors can witness. The green season is from November to May, with lush landscapes, fewer crowds and fantastic birdwatching.
Most private safaris explore Tanzania's famous Northern Circuit, including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha National Park, and cultural experiences around Mto wa Mbu, Lake Natron, or Materuni Waterfalls depending on your itinerary.
A 5-8 day safari is perfect for visiting Tanzania’s most famous parks. For visitors to Zanzibar or those interested in cultural activities, we suggest a 10 to 14 day itinerary for a more relaxed and comprehensive East African experience.
Tanzania is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, jackals, hundreds of bird species, and many other fascinating animals depending on the season and location.
Yeah. Private safari packages normally include all park entrance fees, Ngorongoro Crater service fees, concession fees (if any), government taxes and conservation charges. Your quote will clearly lay out everything that is included.
Tanzania offers accommodation for every budget, including comfortable mid-range lodges, luxury safari lodges, exclusive tented camps, and ultra-luxury properties. Your accommodation can be customized according to your travel style and budget.
Sure. Private safaris are ideal for families as the itinerary can be adapted to suit the children’s interests, pace of travel and preferred activities. Many lodges also offer family rooms and child-friendly services.
We suggest lightweight, neutral-colored clothing, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent, and a light jacket for cool mornings. Bring a camera, binoculars, personal medications, and a small daypack. Soft-sided luggage is recommended, particularly if you will be travelling domestically by air.
Yes. Combining a Tanzania safari with Zanzibar is one of our most popular holiday packages. After exciting wildlife adventures, you can relax on Zanzibar's white-sand beaches, explore Stone Town, enjoy snorkeling, diving, spice tours, or simply unwind by the Indian Ocean.
Most international visitors need a tourist visa, which you can get either online or when you arrive, depending on what country you come from. Vaccination for Yellow Fever is only required if you are arriving from or transiting through a country with Yellow Fever transmission. We also recommend that you discuss malaria prevention with your health care provider before travelling.
