This itinerary provides the perfect blend of education, adventure, wildlife and relaxation, from interacting with local communities and learning ancient traditions, to seeing the Big Five in their natural habitat and relaxing on white sand beaches.

Your journey begins in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. You’ll be welcomed warmly before beginning an unforgettable trip through the country’s diverse landscapes and cultures. One of your first experiences is a visit to the stunning Materuni Falls, on the fertile slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here you will walk through coffee plantations, hear about traditional Chagga farming methods and take part in an authentic coffee making experience, from picking and roasting the beans to brewing a fresh cup of locally grown Arabica coffee.

The cultural journey continues with a visit to the famous Olpopong Maasai Cultural Village, one of the most authentic Maasai cultural experiences in Tanzania. Enjoy a day of Maasai culture, traditional architecture, colourful ceremonies, keeping livestock, medicinal plants and survival techniques. Take part in spear throwing demonstrations, traditional dancing, storytelling and guided bush walks and get a real appreciation of one of Africa’s most iconic cultures.

You and your family will then visit the beautiful Arusha National Park which is one of the most scenic parks in Tanzania and also the only National park where visitors can enjoy a guided walking safari. You will see giraffe, zebra, buffalo, colobus monkeys, flamingo, warthog and many other bird species surrounded by the magnificent Mount Meru. Experience nature on foot with an armed ranger.

Then move on with your wildlife adventure to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobab trees and one of the largest concentrations of elephants in East Africa. A two-day stay in Tarangire offers your family the chance to explore the park’s diverse habitats, in search of lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest and more than 500 bird species.

Then descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations. The crater floor is an incredible concentration of wildlife and a great spot to see the Big Five as well as hippos, flamingos, hyenas, jackals and countless species of antelope, all set in a stunning volcanic landscape.

Your cultural adventure continues near Lake Eyasi where you’ll spend time with the fascinating Hadzabe hunter-gatherers and the skilled Datoga blacksmiths. View how the Hadzabe have lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years, with displays of traditional hunting, fire making and bush survival. Then, visit the Datoga community to see traditional metalworking techniques, bespoke jewellery and local farming methods.

The journey continues into the legendary Serengeti National Park with its endless golden plains, home to one of the richest wildlife ecosystems on earth. Two amazing days exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, watching out for lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles and countless other species. Throughout the season your family might witness the great wildebeest migration and every game drive is a different memorable experience.

Following your safari, take in the scenery on a scenic domestic flight from the Serengeti to the tropical island of Zanzibar where the final chapter of your adventure takes place. Unwind for three days on white sand beaches with crystal clear turquoise water and the warm hospitality of the Swahili Coast. Whether you choose to relax at your beachfront resort, snorkel over colourful coral reefs, enjoy a traditional dhow cruise, explore the historic streets of Stone Town or visit a fragrant spice plantation, Zanzibar is the perfect way to end your family holiday.
