Your adventure starts in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania, before heading to the remarkable landscapes of Lake Natron, one of the most unique and untouched destinations in the country. Lake Natron, hidden beneath the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, is a stunning departure from the traditional safari experience. Here you’ll enjoy a guided walk to the beautiful Ngare Sero Waterfalls, visit a traditional Maasai village and learn about the fascinating culture of one of East Africa’s most iconic tribes. From Lake Natron the journey takes you into the Northern Serengeti to witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles every year. From approximately July to October, herds of millions of wildebeest (accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles) trek north in search of fresh grazing. The iconic Mara River crossings are among the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on the planet, as giant herds plunge into crocodile-infested waters while predators lurk nearby. You will have a whole day to explore this wildlife rich ecosystem whilst staying in the Northern Serengeti. Apart from the migration, the area also has impressive populations of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, buffaloes, topis, elands and many birds. No game drive is ever the same, and every moment in the bush is an experience like no other.
Next, the safari heads to the Central Serengeti, a place known for its wildlife that is abundant throughout the year and the iconic Seronera Valley. The area provides excellent game viewing all year round thanks to permanent water sources and a rich ecosystem, even outside of migration season. Enjoy extensive game drives in search of the Big Five and view predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards in their natural habitat. On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your professional Tanzaniatrail Driver-Guide who will transfer you to your comfortable accommodation in Arusha. Arusha is the gateway to Tanzania's famous Northern Safari Circuit and is the perfect introduction to your African adventure.
